Hera's sacred chalice was forged by Hephaestus and made of solid gold. It was originally given to a beautiful young maiden from Parthus, after she'd caught Zeus's eye. Jealous, Hera had turned the woman into a dog, cursed the town and its people, and taken the chalice for herself. Since then, it had sat in her temple in Parthus, until one night, someone from a group of refugees had broken in and stolen it. Hera had sent her bounty hunters to track down the refugees, until finally, it was revealed that Broteas, the leader of the refugees, had been the one behind the theft. He claimed he'd only taken it so he could sell it and help his people, but they were skeptical of his motives and cast him out of their group, leaving him to fend for himself. |
